Maine State law requires all college students to be immunized against measles, mumps and rubella. The law applies to all students born on or after January 1, 1957. Students will have to show proof of immunity to:
Measles — Two doses of live measles vaccine administered after two months of age, physician documentation of measles disease, or a blood test showing immunity.
Mumps — One dose of live mumps vaccine administered after 12 months of age, physician documentation of mumps disease, or a blood test showing immunity.
Rubella — One dose of live rubella vaccine administered after 12 months of age or a blood test showing immunity.
Meningococcal Meningitis — In addition, Maine State Law requires all students (irrespective of age) to provide a record of meningococcal meningitis immunization within the past ten years OR an acknowledgement of meningococcal disease risks and refusal of meningococcal meningitis immunization signed by the student or student’s parent or guardian.
Students who are not in compliance with this law may be restricted from attending classes until full compliance is achieved.
